Announcement of Termination for the "at.tw Domain Name Experimental Project"

TWNIC launched the "at.tw Domain Experimental Project" in 2018. Combining a new form of "at.tw" short domain name with web forwarding services, it broke away from traditional domain registration mindsets, providing internet users with a quick application and hassle-free site setup experience through a simple and fast registration process with easy configuration.

This service was originally scheduled to cease "at.tw" domain name registrations after the experimental period expired. However, due to its overwhelming popularity among internet users as well as campus faculty and students, the project was extended until December 31, 2026.

As the application needs of domain names become more diversified, and in response to the overall development and resource restructuring of .tw domain name registration services, the phase of the "at.tw domain name experiment project" will come to an end. This project will officially terminate on December 31, 2026, and new applications and renewals for the "at.tw" domain name will no longer be available from September 1.

The service termination schedule is as follows:

• [Starting September 1, 2026]: All new applications and renewals for at.tw domain names will cease. Existing at.tw domain names will remain functional until their expiration date on December 31, 2026.
• [Starting January 4, 2027]: at.tw domain names will cease DNS resolution services. Previously configured settings, such as web forwarding or A/AAAA records, will no longer take effect.
• Further information regarding the termination of the "at.tw" domain name service will be individually communicated to current "at.tw" users via email.
