TWNIC Activates DNS RPZ in Compliance with an Order from the Competent Authority

Taipei, Taiwan – December 4, 2025, the Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC) received an administrative order (the “Order”) from The Criminal Investigation Bureau, National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior and pursuant to Article 42 of the Fraud Crime Hazard Prevention Act, ordering the suspension of DNS resolution for specific domain name. In compliance with the Order, TWNIC activated the DNS Response Policy Zone (DNS RPZ).

DNS RPZ is a technical mechanism implemented by TWNIC in accordance with rulings or dispositions rendered by the competent authorities or the courts, and is applicable to domain names that have been determined by the competent authorities or the courts to involve illegal activities, endanger public security, or harm significant public interests. TWNIC’s role under this mechanism is limited to implementation in accordance with the law and does not include any discretion. As for the related investigation, assessment, and the decision as to whether to suspend resolution, all such matters are handled by the competent authorities in accordance with the law.

If the domain name registrant, users, or any third party have questions or objections regarding the suspension of DNS resolution for this domain name, they may file an appeal or seek legal remedies directly with The Criminal Investigation Bureau, National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior, the competent authority that issued the Order requesting the DNS RPZ.
